The purpose of this course is to introduce poetry as a genre. It discusses the nature of poetry, structure verification, and themes. It also aims to provide a historical scope of the development of poetry and its form. Emphasis will be based on exposing students throughout this semester to a wide range of poetic expressions with the aim of demonstrating differences and distinguishing characteristics of modern poetry. Emphasis is placed on understanding modern poetry within the context of Modernity in general.
